A-Z Masters A-Z Masters 2 |
Many "trade secrets" keep ink contents secret from consumers and tattoo artists alike. Tattoo inks and pigments are not regulated by the Food and Drug Administration. Many tattoo inks technically aren't inks at all. They are pigments that are suspended in a carrier solution. The purpose of the carrier is to disinfect the pigment suspension, keep it evenly mixed and provide for ease of implantation. Contrary to popular belief, most pigments are not vegetable dyes. Many of today's popular pigments are primarily metal salts or plastics. These metal- and plastic-based pigments are very bright when the tattoo is initially healed, but the body doesn't deal well with metal and plastic and spends its time disposing of the foreign matter, making the tattoo dull or totally lose color over time. Allergic reactions, scarring, phototoxic reactions (reactions from light and/or sunlight) and other adverse effects are also possible with many metal- or plastic-based pigments. Vegetable dye inks are more suitable for most people, staying brighter longer and causing fewer reactions. A-Z Masters only uses a proprietary blend of natural and organic inks. We want to make sure your tattoo heals fast and lasts forever. |
